    Life isn’t life without challenges you have to face. Believing in myself was the only thing that helped me overcome the barriers in my life. My name is Esmeralda Mendoza and I go to school  at Urban Promise Academy. In my life  Ive been past helps me understand and notice what to do for my future . Also it shows me not through thick and thin and seeing myself mature and grow over time. Looking at my to make the same mistakes that other people have made. In my life right now I have a comprehensive then my own family.

            All my life Ive done my best and tried hard to give all I have. Ive accomplished some great things without the support from my family. I try my best in school all my life because I had some great teachers that have encourage me to do my best.  My community is all about  gangs and violence. My parents try to keep us safe and prevent me and my sister from being in gangs. Looking at the violence that is going on in my community makes me feel  like I need to do something to stop that violence for happening. So I prevent myself in joining gangs and I always try to talk to my cousin in getting out of gangs and make a better life and start all  over again. Also I have a great friend that tries to keep me away from violence and gangs and supports me in accomplishing my dreams. To see me with happiness in my life.

    In my life I am thank full for to one person who has encourage me and influenced me to do my best. That person is a great friend  he is like a brother to me and he always gives me advice and  even though he is 15 he is comprehensive. His name is Guillermo Matias. Guillermo has been a great person that has come to my life and showed me a lot. He is always with me in the thick and thin. He tells me I should try my best in school and never give up on my dreams. He is a blessing in my life ever since I have meet him he has always showed me a lot. He has told me every single of his mistakes in life so that I would not make the same mistakes as him. His life has been ruff and he has done a lot for me to not get involved in gangs because he is in a gang but he regrets it. So his experiences had taught him to prevent others in being in gangs and he has given me all his support. Guillermo has told me that even if he does not go to college but he would like to see me graduate from college and he would be there with me. He would be the first person to be at my graduation from college and see that I have accomplish  my goals. He has told me some inspiring words that I would never forget. The words that have inspired me more is when he tells me “ Esme I want to see you graduate from college even though I will not but you will and I want to see that I at least have done something right in my life.” every time I talk to him he repeats the same things and also he tells me he will always be with me through thick and thin. So all of the effort I do in school is thanks to my greatest friend Guillermo Matias.

I want to go to collage to study a carrier  that I am interested in. I would like to become a scientist or a doctor. I would like to show my parents that with all my effort and hard work I can accomplish my dreams and goals in live. I also want to go to college because I would be the first in my family to go to college and graduate from it. Show my sisters that they could of gone to college but they didn’t  because they didn’t try their best. I would like to show to my friend Guillermo that I have accomplished my dream thanks to his advice and support and dedicate my effort and accomplishments to him. For being with me through everything in my life.

Now the only dream and goal I will work hard to reach is my dream of going to college. I will try my best and give all I got to accomplish my dream. From my past I will forget everything and I will be thinking about my future and what I will do after college. I will challenge myself in doing more things in my life. Lastly I will support and help my little sister go to college. To see her accomplish her goals like me and see her become a great woman. Also see her become a brave leader that will never give up. That’s why I would like to go to college. big dream that I would like to accomplish. The dream I have is to go to college. To show my parents I can do my best and reach my goals in life. Ever since I was a little girl I always dreamed of becoming some one important in life or to have a great carrier.
